General Description: Oversees and guides strategic planning and is responsible for executing, communicating, and sustaining the organization's strategy. Responsible for creating the strategic culture necessary for the organization to accomplish its strategic objectives.
Lead the development of the strategic plan/framework for the organization, and the detailed current year operating plan, while adhering to direction set by the CEO-OUMS, Executive Chairman, and Board of Directors.
Oversee growth strategies
Develop and oversee the strategy for physician partnerships and collaborative ventures.
Oversee and develop plans for the enterprise-wide marketing and public relations functions in accordance with the strategic plan
Collaborate with government relations and key OUMS subordinate leadership in developing and executing action plans on advocacy initiatives.
Collaborate with OUMS entity leaders and OU College of Medicine leaders to develop entity-specific strategies, ensuring alignment with the overall direction of OUMS and OU College of Medicine.
Develop a strategic plan for the integration of OUMS and OU Physicians, incorporating subordinated hospital plans and other business areas, with long-term structural design that safeguards the continuation of collaborative efforts in executing the overall strategic plan.
Facilitate the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with other Executive Team members and ensuring the strategy is communicated and easily understood throughout the organization. Ensures that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve desired results.
Lead the organization’s approach to measurement and evaluation with a focus on the creation of an organizational dashboard for impact and organizational effectiveness.
Ensure that appropriate metrics are in place to measure performance and progress towards strategic goals.
Oversee the value based care function that measures outcomes and costs to identify opportunities to improve care.
Analyze market trends (local, regional and national) and work with executives to develop strategies to respond to trends as well as healthcare reform.
Act as a key advisor to the CEO-OUMS on critical changes in the competitive landscape, global marketplace and external business environment.
Engage external business and industry experts to learn and influence business strategies, constantly remaining alert and forward thinking about opportunities and risks in the industry.
Assess and make recommendations for existing and future services/ventures to the organization's strategy and business objectives.
Enhance corporate development (including involvement in payer relations) to expand the footprint of OU Medicine within the region.
Align and integrate the clinical enterprise of OU Medicine, OU Physicians, and community providers.
Education: Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or other related field.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategic planning in a healthcare setting to include at least 5 years of management experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written, verbal, analytical and research skills. Effective computer skills including proficiency with process including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Ability to apply a variety of strategic frameworks to analyze problems and to guide and develop solutions.
Ability to translate and communicate complex topics in a variety of forums, tailoring communications to effectively fit and influence the targeted audience; strong executive presence, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to lead the entire range of problem solving work from problem definition to analysis, recommendation and the development of implementation plans.
Ability to influence on large scale, demonstrating courage, an approachable style and inspiring confidence.
Ability to bridge cultural boundaries and norms to overcome barriers and improve outcomes.
Ability to work collaboratively with key internal and external leaders, partners, suppliers and customers.

Corporate-level process improvement principles and methodologies
Business plan creation & development principles and methodologies
Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices and procedures, legal guidelines, ordinances and laws
