The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the companies (Ogden Clinic, PC and Ogden Clinic Investment Corporation), to include the issuance of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of adequate systems to maintain records, the maintenance of proper internal controls, upholding the integrity of the company's reported financial results, and the assurance of compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Provide professional and courteous service to all “customers” of accounting. Customers could include providers, internal administrators, employees, co-workers, banking affilitates, and vendor representatives.
Accountable for meeting behavioral expectations, and supporting the dignity of all persons. Also, responsible for the stewardship of resources.
Ensures applicable regulatory requirements are complied with and follows guidelines that maintain safety for oneself, patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Responsible to study and follow all clinic Policy and Procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Manage any outsourced accounting-related functions
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
Oversee the accounting operations of related corporations, including their control systems, transaction-processing operations, policies and procedures.
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
Ensure that accounts receivable are properly reported and reserved.
Process payroll in a timely manner
Ensure that balance sheet reconciliations are completed
Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
Maintain the chart of accounts
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Oversee and maintain proper cash control policy and procedures
Effectively understand the collection of cash from various sources, including over-the-counter, billing office and any other sources.
Effectively manage the distribution of cash and effective utilization of the operating line of credit
Daily track cash in and out and provide a thirty (30) to sixty (60) day cash forecast.
Issue timely and complete monthly financial statements
Produce monthly finance packets for Finance Committee and Board.
Coordinate with the CFO, the preparation of a corporate annual report
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Coordinate and collaborate with the decision support team to provide information for capital expenditures, pricing decisions, contract negotiations and other matters, as needed.
Manage production of annual budget and forecasts, including operating and capital budgets
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management monthly
Forecast future financials based on current trends and future plans, as needed.
Facilitate quarterly financial reviews with managers, looking at actual to budget and forecasts.
Complete annual budgets for final review by September 30th each year.
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit and tax filings.
Monitor compliance with debt service covenants, including timely submission of required quarterly information to the bank.
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Physician Income Distribution Plan (IDP)
Oversee that adequate information is accounted for timely and accurately in order to calculate the Physician IDP.
Coordinate and collaborate with the IDP team to ensure they have what they need when they need it.
Ogden Clinic Investment Company (OCIC)
Where applicable, apply same controls as OCPC
Issue monthly financial statements
Maintain individual member information, including share information.
Issue and redeem shares in accordance with OCIC By-laws.
Calculate share value each year in accordance with OCIC By-laws.
Work closely with other departments to help solve accounting matters and improve processes.
Provide strategic advice on company revenue enhancement and expense reduction.
Assist the CFO with other projects and duties as needed.

EDUCATION: College graduate with a BS in accounting, plus an advanced degree in accounting and/or CPA.
Experience: At least 10 years of accounting-related experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. Physician group and/or healthcare organization experience, a plus.
Must possess a high level of competence using financial software and Microsoft Office products, with an advanced knowledge of Excel.
Requires prolonged sitting.
Requires some bending, stooping, lifting, and stretching for files and supplies.
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment.
Must possess all physical abilities necessary to perform the job.
Noise Level is Moderate with the constant noise of business office computers, printers, telephones, etc.
