In this role, you will develop, implement and measure a strategic communications and community relations program that supports the mission and goals of Good Samaritan Medical Center and SCL Health, which includes but is not limited to: distributing strategic system and site-specific content via digital and social media platforms, blogs, traditional media to increase visibility, care site usage and to educate the public about health and wellness, and working to increase positive visibility and ensure proactive media relations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning & Development
Develop local communications and community relations plan with input from director of communications and marketing that reflect care site and system strategic vision. Develop and manages speakers bureau comprised of care site thought leaders, clinical experts, etc. to provide visibility for the care site’s services, leadership, physicians and educational/health programs.
Consult with regional Marcom and care site operations regarding media planning. Write and implement media plans addressing strategic care site priorities. Recommend proactive strategies to generate exposure across the spectrum of digital, social and traditional channels.
Target prioritized stakeholders and channels with both system and custom, site-specific content. In cooperation with regional, system and care site Marcom staff, identify, research, write and place care site specific content that publicizes the activities and achievements of the health system and that educate the public and associates about health and wellness. Channels include SCL Health intranet site, care site signage networks, web, digital/social media, collateral, newsletters, clinical research, patient education tools, etc. Leverage shared system resources to execute above.
Work in partnership with marketing counterpart to execute and augment system-wide editorial calendar and to amplify editorial with local events, earned media exposure and programs.
Respond to media requests for information in a timely and accurate manner, keeping communications and marketing director informed. Coordinate messaging, timing and manner of media releases with content services and in conformance with policies and codes of ethics.
Contribute regional press releases and feature stories as part of system and care site strategies; suggest topics, stories, produce and distribute to appropriate channels.
Work closely with care site service line leaders and departments to identify PR and internal communications opportunities.
Analytics & Metrics
Monitors communications activity and develops measurement tools to track results of communications activity and makes recommendations regarding the success or failure of plans and promotions.
Monitors local, regional and national media and alerts public relations and marketing staff and senior leadership of issues and opportunities. Proactively works to place stories on local, regional and national levels. Develops and implements system for tracking and reporting media hits and social media engagement using Google Alert, etc.
Develops and monitors project and/or service line budget to ensure estimates and actual expenses reconcile. Assists in developing annual budget for assigned communication areas.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or equivalent knowledge, with a minimum of 5-7 years of effective experience required.
Proven results in developing and implementing digital communications, active media and community relations programs required.
Demonstrated competence in written, oral and electronic communication skills; Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage priorities and utilize time effectively.
Working knowledge of market dynamics, current marketing/ communication principles, digital, social and traditional formats required.
Creative mindset to problem solving and communication tactics. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in and support a matrix relationship with dual (system and care site) accountability.
