This temporary marketing content writer position is a creative professional who understands how marketing content needs to be represented online. This position will be have a strong command of the principles behind “writing for the web”, understanding how to write and edit content online, with additional focus on search engine optimization (SEO) and current accessibility standards. This position will work in collaboration with the marketing coordinators to identify key areas of the University of Florida Health academic health system that are in need of effective web content for our various web properties, including but not limited to, UFHealth.org. This contracted employee will be on contract through June 2018 with potential for a renewal of their contract.
Requires bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related area and a minimum of two to three years of demonstrated experience writing/editing/publishing content specific for the web. Health care writing experience preferred. Flexible writing style to address multiple audiences while maintaining the brand voice is key. Must be able to write content intended for the web, optimized for SEO, and adhering to accessibility standards (currently set to WCAG 2.0 AA). Experience with content management systems and strong understanding of content work flows preferred (WordPress and Drupal experience a plus). Impeccable spelling, grammar and sentence structure to ensure reading flows smoothly. Experience writing in AP style required. Editing for consistency, clarity, brevity, accuracy and readability. Collaborate with in-house marketing subject matter experts in health care to support delivery of marketing goals.
