The Director of Radiology’s primary focus, in alignment with Hennepin Healthcare System’s vision, mission and values, will be to work cross-functionally with all hospital departments and allied services to design, execute and manage effective radiology department operations and strategies that meet or exceed the quality and patient care goals of Hennepin Healthcare System.
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and, in conjunction with the Radiology Chief and radiologists, the Radiology Director will ensure that radiology service development, staffing management, resource allocation and control are properly focused to support and enhance patient care. The Director of Radiology has oversight for all diagnostic, radiology, ultrasound, CT Scan, nuclear medicine, MRI, Interventional Radiology and Mammography services provided within the hospital system and its satellite clinics.

Direct reports to the Director of Radiology include three Managers; Manager (Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, & Ultrasound), Manager (CT, MRI, IR) and Manager (X-Ray & Satellite Clinics)
Indirect reports number 125 FTE
The Director of Radiology candidate should have significant career experience in complex healthcare environments helping to lead and influence others in pursuit of evolving organizational goals while maintaining focus on an organization’s norms, mission and values which have defined a successful standard of care, health and safety.
The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and innovative professional possessing a Master’s degree and 5 plus years of radiology management experience within a large hospital setting. This Director will have passion for serving within a healthcare system whose mission, as a safety net hospital, is to extend the highest quality of care to all members of a community. The ideal candidate is experienced in directing a full business unit within a LEAN business environment while assisting hospital executives in defining organizational goals, critical issues and strategic plans.
Additionally, throughout their career the ideal Director of Radiology candidate will have consistently demonstrated abilities to scale between tactical application and in thinking strategically in support of both hospital system and departmental initiatives.
Master’s degree in health sciences/ business administration or currently in progress toward degree with completion date identified prior to hire
Certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Maintains minimum ECE credits as mandated by the accrediting bodies: ARRT, ARDMS or NMTCB.
5+ years of radiology management experience preferred or an approved equivalent combination of experience and education
