The Board of Directors of the North Dakota Hospital Association (NDHA) is embarking on the search for its next President. The Board seeks an individual of exceptional character and substance, who engenders trust and is of the highest integrity, and who has demonstrated a proven track record in developing and leading advocacy efforts and achieving public policy goals.
This position is primarily responsible for representing the interests of North Dakota hospitals and providing effective and proactive internal and external executive leadership. Significant previous experience at a senior executive level in a similarly complex organization is required. Candidates from healthcare-related associations or candidates with healthcare-related legislative or healthcare executive experience are preferred, although other proven candidates may be considered. Individuals with extensive experience as an executive of a complex business organization may also be considered.
This individual must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, a superior ability to maintain and enhance the operational and financial strengths of the organization, and leadership experience influencing and shaping conversations on complex issues among diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be genuinely comfortable with, interested in, and effective at engaging with constituents at the community, state and federal levels; comfortable advocating with the legislature, congressional delegations, and the media; and being an effective and highly visible spokesperson and “ambassador.” A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree and membership in the American College of HealthCare Executives (ACHE) is strongly preferred. A candidate lacking an advanced degree will be considered if the candidate has significant executive and policy and advocacy experience.

Founded in 1934, The North Dakota Hospital Association (NDHA) has been representing hospitals and health-related member organizations for over 80 years. The NDHA is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization comprised of hospitals and health systems, related organizations, and other members with a common interest in promoting the health of the people of North Dakota.
Through discussion, advocacy, and exploration, the NDHA works to create an understanding of healthcare needs and healthcare delivery in North Dakota. The Association provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, information, research and methods of improving healthcare delivery.
