This position provides strategic and operational leadership and administration for assigned region. Responsibilities include systematically implementing and enhancing all areas of True North. The director is responsible for practice operations, financial management, patient experience, accreditation, safety and quality in accordance with organizational policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations. The director participates in physician manpower planning for the assigned regions and coordinates provider recruitment and retention strategies in collaboration with MHC physician recruitment. The director promotes a professional and safe environment and develops and maintains collegial and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the Munson Healthcare system to positively impact all areas of True North.
Provides effective leadership by role modeling behaviors that promote professional and open communication. Demonstrates strategic thinking leading to action; is accountable for outcomes in all aspects of their responsible area. Responsible for integrating the strategic plan and execution of MHC’s goals and objectives through effective collaboration, quality, key performance indicators, patient relationships, team member communication and engagement.
The director collaborates with the assigned practice administrators and/or practice managers to continuously improve processes and care, maintain employee and patient safety and satisfaction and attain operating goals. Facilitates and coordinates activities between departments not directly reporting to the director but are integrally a part of the practices success.
The position reports to the Vice President of the Munson Healthcare Physician Network and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the regional hospital President/CEO. The Director functions as a member of the Physician Network SLT as well as the regional hospital SLT to ensure tight integration and accountability. The Director works closely and positively with physician and clinical leadership, staff, physicians, Administration, peers, other employees and the community in general.

Responsible for the management of the assigned regional MHC physician network practices in accordance with True North objectives. Oversight includes budgetary development, revenue cycle management, continuous improvement in clinical operations and implementation of standardized policies and procedures.
Participate in provider manpower planning initiatives and develop provider recruitment and retention priorities in collaboration with MHC physician recruitment.
Provide financial and operational oversight to the assigned region. In collaboration with Practice Administrators and/or Practice Managers, monitor financial and operational metrics, identify adverse trends and develop action plans to improve performance.
Monitor revenue cycle KPI performance in collaboration with Central Billing Office; identify front end process improvement / standardization opportunities and work with practice leadership to implement action plans. Create accountability amongst Practice Administrators and Practice Managers around charge capture and charge reconciliation and establish regular mechanisms to monitor and continuously improve performance.
Direct the operating and capital budget processes for assigned practices in collaboration with MHC and local hospital leadership.
Lead the implementation of the lean management system, serving as a champion for coaching team members and engaging in ongoing process improvement initiatives.
Participate in the process of new program / practice development in coordination with local hospital leadership. Participate in the development proformas, business plans and space plans as applicable.
Engage with MHC physician recruitment to establish regional recruitment priorities and actively participate in the provider recruitment process.
Coordinate the successful onboarding of new providers and practices in collaboration with key stakeholders across the system.
Ensure assigned practices meet all licensing, regulatory and accreditation requirements and oversee continuous readiness initiatives.
Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of system operational policies and procedures to ensure system wide standardization and adoption of best practices.
Quality & Safety
In coordination with Clinical Manager, develop ambulatory quality reports and monitor ongoing performance to ensure the practices are maximizing payor quality incentives.
In coordination with Clinical Manager, develop and implement strategies to support PCMH, PCMH-N and other payor quality initiatives in partnership with local Physician Organization or Physician Hospital Organization.
Identifies provider educational opportunities related to quality measures or payor incentive programs; engages appropriate stakeholders to ensure adequate training is provided.
Fosters a culture of safety where staff and providers feel comfortable to speak up regarding potential patient or employee safety issues and encourage the use of VOICE reporting. Develop action plans to address patient or employee safety issues.
Responsible to hire and manage Practice Administrator(s) and/or Practice Manager(s) as applicable to the region. Train and mentor these leaders and establish leadership expectations and defined accountabilities.
Provide Practice Administrators / Managers with expertise and support to resolve HR issues that arise in the practice. Ensure that all HR policies and procedures are consistently implemented and enforced.
Engage in leadership rounding with staff and providers in order to receive feedback and develop action plans to continuously improve the practice environment as a great place to work and practice. Hold Practice Administrators / Managers accountable for staff and provider engagement action planning and the implementation of action plans.
Establish forums / processes to regularly review CGCAHPS data for assigned practices. Identify key drivers for improvement and support Practice Administrators/Managers in the development and implementation of action plans to drive improvement in scores.
Develop and provide leadership to system or region-level patient experience initiatives.
Coordinate provider and staff patient experience training as applicable to the region.
Provide Practice Administrators / Managers with expertise and support to resolve patient complaints as necessary.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
A master’s degree in business administration, hospital administration or a related field is required. Candidates currently enrolled in a master’s program will be considered; the degree must be complete within 18 months of accepting the role.
Five or more years of experience in a management / leadership position. Physician practice experience required.
Demonstrated understanding of health care finance, statistics and data management is required. Knowledgeable regarding applicable health care regulations and accrediting agency requirements.
Must exercise high levels of public relations, organizational and speaking skills.
Demonstrated entrepreneurship and creativity in problem solving.
