ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Assistant Director of Employee/Labor Relations, the Employee Relations Investigator is responsible for planning and conducting investigations involving a wide variety of areas including Title IX/Sexual Violence Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, Whistleblower complaints, Retaliation complaints, Policy/Law/Regulation compliance and general workplace/HR investigations. This person will conduct full investigations and/or assist in the investigation of matters pertaining to all areas noted and will perform independent analysis of investigation findings and provides reports and recommendations. Our Employee Relations Ivestigator will collaborate/partner with Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Staff Diversity & Compliance, Title IX, Risk Management, Staff/Faculty Counseling, Audit, Campus HR, Local/General Counsel and, in partnership with Employee and Labor Relations, facilitate resolution of complaints when appropriate.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree in related area preferred (e.g. Law degree, etc) 7+ years of progressive experience in employee relations/complaint investigations (or related experience). Healthcare industry, higher education, and/or public sector experience preferred; experience in a union environment preferred. Ability to lead and conduct all aspects of complex workplace investigations. Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g. DOL, EEOC, Title IX, FMLA/CFRA, ADA, etc). Strong analytical skills to interpret and dissect complex issues. Strong written communication skills to write clear, concise and logical reports, correspondence and summaries. Strong oral communication skills to effectively convey and explain information to all levels of employees and management. Strong skills in effectively conducting investigatory interviews. Strong interpersonal skills; with ability to listen well, demonstrate sensitivity to all parties, and facilitate resolutions. Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other UCLA offices (Title IX Office, Office of Legal Affairs, Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Insurance and Risk Management, etc.) and with the UC Office of the President. MS Office Suite proficiency (MS Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc).
