We are currently seeking a Social Media Specialist to join our Marketing and Communications team to complete a variety of social media-related tasks and digital communication projects. The successful candidate will create strong content and pitch creative ideas that build and strengthen the University of Iowa Health Care brand, exercise strong knowledge and proficient use of social media, and demonstrate a high degree of creativity, initiative, self-motivation, and desire to produce exceptional content.
Develop social media content that supports our overall social media strategy for our UI Health Care channels (including @uihealthcare, @uichildrens, and @iowamed accounts). Write social posts, take photos, produce videos, and create graphics. Communicate the brand voice in a coherent and effective manner across all social media platforms.
Organize and update the content calendar with content that is planned, in production, or completed. Schedule posts based on priority level, timeliness, and other determining factors.
Monitor UI Health Care-related accounts and the social media environment for questions, comments, and issues important to UI Health Care. Engage with followers and respond to questions and comments in a timely manner following our social media strategy. Communicate effectively with appropriate stakeholders about both positive and negative comments.
Develop and manage paid advertising campaigns in collaboration with service line stakeholders.
Track, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics for both paid and organic posts.
Produce and execute planned and unplanned content around events as they happen. Works flexible hours, sometimes outside regular business hours, to properly support the team’s efforts.
Stay current on social media tools, trends, and best practices within the industry.
Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, English, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 6 months professional experience creating social media content across channels for an organization, company or institution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to write effectively under deadline for a variety of purposes, goals, audiences and media
Proficiency in computer software applications including MS Office
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as necessary
Time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and ability to multi-task
Experience working in health care
Experience using a DSLR camera
Experience with video editing software
Design experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Demonstrated ability to implement a social media strategy
Experience gathering and interpreting social media data
Demonstrated organizational and collaboration skills
