A Database Warehouse Architect/Administrator is responsible for the performance, scalability, security and support of a database. They will also be involved in the design, planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting system and customer issues.
The key role is to collaborate with data modeler, metadata specialist, business analysts and ETL team members to resolve complex data design issues/provide optimal solutions that meet business requirements/benefits system performance. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective solution. Monitor business use and performance of the data warehouse and provides feedback on data warehouse architecture, as well as provides mentoring and assistance in tuning to business partners and users.
Acting as the Architect, fulfills a coordination and leadership role in the development of technical strategies and solutions as related to Database, Data Model & ETL (Extract, Transform & Load). Also has extensive technical knowledge and experience in multiple core technology areas and integration, along with strong planning and analytical skills. Includes responsibility for data warehouse architecture and design and development of data model & ETL requiring multiple technologies. Also works as part of cross-functional teams that deal with the full spectrum of information management technology.
Individual must have a good working knowledge of different types of philosophies when it comes to design, development, support of data warehouse architecture, design and development of complex ETL and design and development of logical & physical data model using Kimball methodology of star schema. The Data Warehouse Architect/Admin must have proven competency in the following areas: working with large multi terabytes of data warehouse, performance tuning of database & SQL queries, designing & developing databases to support multiple users and complex ETL packages.
Works with various technical resources across the team to facilitate the development of technical standards. Must have the communication skills and ability to develop and present solutions to all levels of management, including executive levels. Participates in requirements gathering, discovery, and interfacing with technical and business teams - establishing credibility in terms of experience, presentation and leadership of solutions development. Evaluates proposed new systems and system changes and additions, provides oversight into the decision process, and participates in project implementation.
Acting as the Administrator, troubleshoots and resolves user and database issues to ensure the data warehouse meets service level requirements. Collaborate with other DBA teams, Architecture and external vendors in planning, testing, configuration and execution of installations, upgrades and migration. Develop, manage, schedule, and document data warehouse operations and tasks, including archival, security, backup, and aggregate table creation. Provide guidance to less experienced database analysts, for troubleshooting escalated issues and support regular/emergency requests during production issues.
Design & Development- Provides technical development expertise for designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and supporting all types of applications consistent with the established specifications and business requirements in order to deliver business value.
Strategy Execution -- Contributes to the execution of CHRISTUS' overall information systems strategy as it pertains to their vision of the organization in both strategic and tactical plans. Involved in team adoption, execution and integration of strategy to achieve optimal and efficient deliver.
System Engineering -- Involved in the evaluation of proposed system acquisitions or solutions development and provides input to the decision-making process relative to compatibility, cost, resource requirements, operations, and maintenance.
System Integration -- Integrates software components, subsystems, facilities and services into the existing technical systems environment; assesses impact on other systems, and works with cross functional teams within information management to ensure positive project impact. Installs, configures, and verifies the operation of software components.
System Management -- Participates in development of standards, design and implementation of proactive processes to collect and report data and statistics on assigned systems.
System Security -- Participates in the research, design, development, and implementation of application, database, and interface security using technologies such as SSL, Public-Key encryption, and Certificates or other emerging security technologies.
Requirements POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: A. Education/ Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred, or eight (8) years of relevant experience required.
Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of Database Administration, Data Warehouse Architecture, ETL, database & SQL performance tuning.
Security model understanding and maintenance
Teradata Administration including system support and troubleshooting
Problem solving skills

Interpersonal communications skills
Eight (8) years of related responsible experience in large corporate systems environments working with large and complex data warehouse systems.
Must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience working with Teradata in multi terabytes environment with an administrative background.
Must have at least 5 years of experience in writing complex ETL packages using Informatica PowerCenter.
Must have at least 5 years of hands on experience in database and SQL performance tuning.
Must have at least 3 years of experience in designing & developing logical & physical data model using Kimball's methodology of star schema.
Prefer experience on Multiple platforms such as Big Data and/or NoSQL
