Essentia Health has retained Witt/Kieffer to identify candidates for the position of Vice President, Strategy and Business Development.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a mission-driven leader to provide system leadership in strategy and business development for Essentia Health, one of the nation's top integrated delivery systems. The system's Board of Directors recently approved an $800 million project that will replace Duluth's biggest hospital, St. Mary's Medical Center, plus build a new clinic building and an outpatient surgery center as part of a plan called "Vision Northland." This is the largest private development in Duluth's history.
Essentia Health is a vibrant, cutting-edge, integrated health system serving patients in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Idaho. The system, headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota has approximately 15,000 employees, including more than 1,900 physicians and advanced practitioners, and $2 billion in net operating revenue. Essentia Health, which includes many Catholic facilities, is guided by the values of quality, hospitality, respect, justice, stewardship and teamwork. The organization celebrates the connection to its region and people "like nowhere else" in 15 hospitals, 75 clinics, six long term care facilities, three assisted living facilities, three independent living facilities, five ambulance services and one research institute. In 2017, Essentia posted $151.4 million in net income.
The Vice President, Strategy and Business Development will report to the system Executive Vice President of Operations and Administration, Jodi Mansfield. The VP, Strategy and Business Development is the system's most senior level executive responsible for providing the framework and structure for the development and implementation of Essentia's strategic plan and business development activities, working in partnership with the system's Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
This transformational, innovative and inspirational leader will be an integral member of the EVP of Operations and Administration's executive team. This individual will have the experience, gravitas and ability to guide diverse stakeholders in implementing a shared vision for the system, which builds upon the unique strengths of each entity in the formation of an integrated, multi-state, healthcare network. We seek individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence that have a demonstrated ability to connect with individuals in a meaningful way at all levels of an organization. Experience in a multi-site system would be a significant plus, as well is the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization.
We would appreciate nominations of outstanding candidates or expressions of personal interest. Inquiries, applications and nominations will be kept confidential and should be directed to Jim King or Beth Nelson through the office of Megan Welch at firstname.lastname@example.org, 630-575-6904.
