The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Population Health serves as the executive accountable for the success of RWJBH's Valued Based Payer Contracts and its shift from fee-for-service to risk. The position is responsible for the leadership and vision of the population health group, while being accountable for the direction, performance, and physician engagement of the population health assets. These include the Clinically Integrated Network, the Medicare Shared Savings Program, and MCO Payor Programs. The Chief Medical Officer reports to the Executive Vice President for the Office of Transformation, Strategy, and Business Development, but will work in collaboration with other organizational executives to deliver value and performance (financial, quality, outcomes, and patient experience).
As an integral part of this role, the Chief Medical Officer focuses on innovative approaches for improving the quality, efficiency, and appropriateness of care delivered to the populations managed by RWJBH. On an annual basis, the CMO will establish operational targets for members, programs and services and monitor the performance, while taking the appropriate corrective action as needed. He or she serves as a thought leader on population health management and provider engagement, with an eye toward system-wide value enhancements through the institution of best practices and technological solutions or other enhancements.
