The Strategic Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting an array of activities that advance the strategic vision of Hartford HealthCare. This highly analytical position reports to the Manager of Strategic Planning and will work closely with executive leadership in driving strategic initiatives throughout the health system. The right candidate will have a strong analytical background, as well as a proven ability and willingness to interpret data and present findings to project stakeholders. The analyst will participate in a wide range of responsibilities, including market share, proforma devleopment, business planning, market activity reports, industry trends and competitor research, national health system survey completion, and numerous other ad hoc requests. Success in this role will provide an opportunity to hone key analytical and strategic planning skills necessary to assessing an evolving healthcare landscape, while working within a team dedicated to developing early careerists.
Hospital & Service Line Strategic Planning and Support:
Produce market activity reports that support the HHC hospital and service line decision-making. Reports would identify market trends and include recommendations on opportunities for system growth, in addition to insights on competitive activity. This position will provide critical analytical support for monthly executive leadership meetings, known as business unit reviews (BURs).
System Business Planning Support:
Assists the Manager of Strategic Planning and Regional/Institute Planning Directors with the creation of proformas and business plans to support the growth and future needs of the HHC System.
Dashboard Management & Routine Reporting:
Create visual analytics through Excel, Qlikview, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Maptitude, and other software. Assist with the development of a Qlikview market share dashboard to streamline routine & ad hoc market share reporting. Assist with Lean daily management responsibilities.
National and Regional Market Assessments for System Strategy & Regulatory Support:
Assist in the development and financial analysis of industry competitors and potential partners, as well as analyses to inform of the impact of potential alignment scenarios in the market. Develop data-rich maps to visualize community health needs as well as the health care landscape. Participate in the development of the annual Hartford HealthCare Strategic Assessment.
System Statistic Management and Survey Response Submission:
Assist the compilation and submission of media, industry, and regulatory surveys on behalf of Hartford HealthCare. Oversee regional responses to surveys to ensure coordinated efforts. Compile system-wide statistics for use in the annual State of the System report, as well as for other miscellaneous requests.
Reports To: Manager, Strategic Planning
Minimum of 3 years progressive experience required in a hospital or healthcare system setting
Experience with Sharepoint, CHIME, QlikView, Maptitude, and/or Crimson Market Advantage preferred, but not required
Advanced user of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Language Skills: Outstanding oral and written communication and presentation skills required
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
Experience in data analysis and/or business development
Strong understanding of financial statements, specifically income statements and balance sheets
Ability to understand and create proformas and ROIs
Strong willingness and demonstrated ability to work with data, interpret trends, and present findings to project stakeholders
Ability to exercise independent judgment, creativity, and initiative
Acute attention to detail and ability to produce polished deliverables
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of Lean management, preferred but not required
Proactive team player, with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to influence decision making
Experience with Qlikview or Tableau, preferred but not required
