Overview
The Manager of Strategy & Business Development is responsible for coordinating with VP, Strategy, Director, Physician Relations and Directors of Strategy in applying demand feasibility and other modeling to solve strategic, operational, and market research problems within each Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) region and across the network. Internal stakeholders consists of Divisional Presidents, Physician Enterprise, Innovation Center and School of Medicine. This role will identify and prioritize opportunities, develop hypotheses, identify and document business requirements for stakeholders, to operationalize solutions into business processes, and track key performance indicators impact post-implementation. This role will promote the use of complex market, operational and financial assessments as a critical value driver and source of competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
- Support in reallocating corporate resources, building strategic capabilities at key places in the organization, identifying business development opportunities, and generating proprietary insights based on external forces at work and long-term market trends.
- Support the development of strategic plans and strategic programming.
- Manage market assessments and prepare summaries of findings including market share, demographics, business performance and accessibility.
- Monitor competitors and supports the organization to set ambitious targets.
- Assist the Regulatory leadership team in all aspects of strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation, including the preparation of Certificate of Need filings to the Department of Health.
- Support preparation of the annual Leadership Summit.
- Support organizational corporate strategy through the development of environmental assessments.
- Monitors healthcare trends and proactively identifies and proposes strategy refinements as a result of market conditions, including, but not limited to competitive assessments and regulatory risk assessment.
- Assess market position, developments, trends, demographics, patient origin, out-migration, strategic options in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist development of comprehensive capacity assessments through detailed research and in collaboration with internal departments.
- Provides Strategy support services to Care Transformation Services teams.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business and Healthcare Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in strategy or business analysis including market, operational and financial assessments, or similar experience of solving real problems.
- Uses best practices, with limited coaching, to develop future market models that address business needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience to lead design sessions with business customers to derive assessment requirements and design information.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects and utilize effective project planning techniques to break down basic and occasionally moderately complex projects into tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
- Ability to work beyond familiar business models - to get out of one's comfort zone and earnestly seek to integrate the best solutions to business challenges.
- Experience with a wide variety of tools and languages to achieve results (e.g., MS Office, other).
- Develops and promotes demand and financial feasibility models for strategy that ties business processes to the enterprise growth and expansion initiatives.
- Ability to generate insights, enact, and enable strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with healthcare leaders in embedding result-oriented solutions into business processes.
Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred: - Experience in business planning and project management.
