Manages the overall accountability for the development, management and outcomes of the Behavioral Health unit within the Geisinger Health Plan. Manages and delivers a comprehensive and long-term “system view” of Geisinger Health Plan and the Clinical Enterprise’s strategic plan and constantly seeks to identify and take advantage of new business opportunities to improve the health and wellness of members and families served.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Proven experience in program development, regulatory compliance and competency in behavioral health services
Proven ability to motivate and guide teams, based on compelling vision and fact-based analysis across multiple dimensions
Fosters a culture of caring for patients and employees
Ability to optimize available resources and delegate effectively while maintaining focus on the overall goals
Demonstrate competence in written, oral, and electronic communication skills
Ability to develop and execute product plans, including identification of resources and budget required
Ability to direct and coordinate programs, projects, resources, and staff across multiple company functions
Strong analytic qualities to analyze goals, products, programs, and processes and make recommendations for changes
Knowledge of managed care, utilization management, case management, and disease management
Organizational and project management skills
Experience working with clinical documentation programs designed for utilization management programs
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of management experience required, with some managed care expertise particularly in utilization management and case management required.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with combination of medical and behavioral health experience, required.
Experience in the application of criteria systems, such as internally developed criteria, Milliman criteria or Interqual criteria preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment
Travel to sites throughout Geisinger Health Plan footprint
Off-Site travel for regulatory meetings
