You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Director of Surgical Services.
You know how to move fast. You know how to stay organized. You know how to have fun.
You’re equally comfortable with leading the day-to-day operations of a complex busy O.R., working at the 50,000 foot strategic level, implementing new processes in a changing environment and partnering with senior leadership on growth strategies.
You’re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.
Our surgical services department includes 10 O.R.’s and 1 Hybrid O.R. that together produce 8,500 cases per year plus a busy GI outpatient center. This Director of Surgical Services would have approximately 5 direct reports and 150+ indirect. This individual would report directly to the Chief Operating Officer for Saint Vincent Healthcare.
St. Vincent Healthcare is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 286-bed level II trauma center has provided care in Montana and the surrounding area since 1898, and our 30-clinic network ensures community needs are met. We offer comprehensive, specialty care, including a “hospital within a hospital” specifically for children, and are proud to extend SCL Health’s missions by treating the poor, the vulnerable, our community and each other.
Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, we’ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.
Together we’ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. We’ll encourage joy and take pride in our integrity.
We’ll laugh at each other’s jokes (even the bad ones). We’ll hello and high five. We’ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.
We’re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.
As a Director of Surgical Services you need to know how to:
Assume responsibility for the comprehensive administration of clusters of clinically-related units.
Shape and interpret the philosophy and definition of the clinical units as it relates to short and long-term planning, program and staff development, resource and budget management, quality assurance, and system utilization.
Use outstanding communication, problem-solving and change management skills to influence human resources utilization and motivation, marketing, and inter- and intra-departmental relations.
Keep abreast of current clinical trends and technology and maintain clinical competence commensurate to area of responsibility.
Develop budgets and reviews and analyzes with direct reports working to assure high standards of stewardship.
Explore new clinical initiatives for expanding the service line as you also seek methods to streamline operational systems to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Meet or exceed all Joint Commission standards and resolve any clinical complaints issued by patients, families or physicians.
We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:
Current RN Licensure, preferred, or other clinical licensure.
Master’s degree in healthcare or clinical area required.
Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in perioperative leadership positions required.
