This position serves as Security Supervisor. Directs security officers to preform essential job functions such as, patrols of the facilities and grounds; assists with the welfare and safety of personnel and patients; investigation of critical incidents; assisting employees, patients, and visitors; interfacing with emergency response agencies; securing doors; monitoring parking and traffic control. Ensures team members perform assigned security duties promptly and accurately. Provides guidance to team members and assists Area Manager and/or Area Director with additional duty assignments requiring a first-line supervisor, such as training, documentation, special investigations, and sensitive duty assignments. Serves as primary point of contact in the absence of senior leadership. Must be flexible to serve in a supervisor role at any location within the assigned region.
Schedules and supervises the work of assigned staff to achieve the defined business goals and to ensure smooth work flow in the department. Coordinates team activities and the staff-to-workload ratios to accomplish the most effective use of resources. Sets work goals for team members and monitors measurable outcomes in accuracy, timeliness, productivity and service quality.
Provides leadership, work goals and coaching for staff. Selects, hires and trains staff for assigned area. Manages labor expenditures within budgetary guidelines. Conducts performance reviews, counseling/disciplinary action and termination of assigned staff. Works with the team to achieve designated work goals.
Uses advanced business and software skills for creating documents, letters, spreadsheets, reports, graphics, and presentations.
Coordinates and participates in special projects as assigned.
Develops and maintains productive working relationships with the leadership of both ambulatory and acute within assigned area of responsibility ensuring effective communication and positive customer relations. Must be able to effectively provide security briefings to leaders, staff members and surveyors.
Is an expert in applicable laws and regulations and serves as a resource on such matters to all officers. Serves as an education resource on policies, procedures, training, tactics and proper application thereof to all officers.
Must possess a valid drivers license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
Knowledge, skills and abilities as normally obtained through five years of continuous service in a security officer role or equivalent experience. Must possess the ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations (including emergencies). Must demonstrate extraordinary interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with patients, visitors, and staff. Must maintain required security certifications. Must represent a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and must possess strong verbal communication skills. Must qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned non-lethal weapons. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position. Capabilities will be demonstrated through the successful completion of similarly related skills testing. Must have the ability to manage, lead and communicate with many different audiences.Employees hired on or after January 1, 2019 will need to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements before starting in the role.Employees hired before January 1, 2019 must be able to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements by December 31, 2019. If upon initial evaluation, an employee is unable to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements, there will be a quarterly assessment administered.This physical skills assessment will then be conducted on an annual basis and employees must successfully meet the requirements to remain in role.
