The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to lead the children's hospital and serve as its next Executive Director.
University of Iowa (UI) Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Iowa’s only comprehensive children’s hospital, has been dedicated to meeting the health care needs of children and families since 1919. Opened in February 2017, the new 190-bed UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital is designed as a healing environment that improves the health and well-being of children and their families. It is the only hospital in Iowa designated as a Level I trauma center for pediatrics and is home to Iowa’s only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital also performs groundbreaking research to help solve the mysteries of childhood diseases, in addition to training the next generation of health care professionals.
UI Health Care is one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers and the only comprehensive academic medical center in Iowa, includes in addition to UI Stead Family Children's Hospital, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and University of Iowa Physicians.
As the chief operating executive of the UI Stead Family Children's Hospital, the Executive Director reports to Suresh Gunasekaran, the Chief Executive Officer of UI Hospitals and Clinics and works in close partnership with the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital Physician-in-Chief and Surgeon-in-Chief. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operational management, strategic planning and financial leadership of the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The Executive Director will have a mission oriented approach to leadership, be a strong voice for children within the institution and across the state and committed to a patient and family approach to the highest quality of care.
A leader with extensive children's hospital experience in an academic environment is preferred. The successful candidate will have a track record of developing and implementing a system of care tailored to children and excellent provider relationships. UI seeks individuals with a strong emotional and social intelligence with a demonstrated ability to connect at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
