The incumbent serves as in house planning consultant for assigned strategic planning and business development initiatives, working closely with senior managers (CEO Council, VP's, AVP's), physician leaders and service line administrators. Incumbent performs market and financial feasibility analysis related to strategic planning, program development and implementation of growth initiatives, in a team environment, with colleagues in other departments including Finance and Clinical Affairs. The Strategy Manager serves as a technical expert for planning and competitive information sources, volume analysis and facility forecasting. Coordinates strategic planning and business plan development for strategic programs and business development initiatives as assigned.
Manages special projects as assigned, including coordinating participation, setting agendas and facilitating the planning & implementation processes and document preparation.
Works directly with the CEO, President, Provost and Deans on strategic initiatives which include University planning.
Provides ad hoc analytical services and develops specific reports, including volume and market share reports for program committees, physician leaders and managers to monitor growth and achievement of strategic goals.
Facilitates and supports outreach development initiatives in collaboration with service line administrators and physicians, and supports broader outreach initiatives with the Associate Vice Presidents.
Provides advice and support on difficult analytical and process issues to assist the service line administrators and other colleagues in moving their group processes and growth strategies forward.
Compiles information on economic and health care industry trends, compiles and analyzes demographic, market share, financial and utilization data from internal and external sources to support strategic program planning.
Provides analytic support to the CON application process as needed by developing utilization trends and bed need forecasts as well as population projections.
Serves as a technical liaison with outside data vendors regarding data content and accuracy.
Assists with special studies and CEO Council and Board documents in collaboration with the Vice President, Associate Vice President, and analyst/associate staff.
Assists the in training and mentoring of the analyst staff and management of their work on projects where the Strategy Manager is the lead.
Position Qualifications Include:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Five years of healthcare analytical and facilitation experience.
Courses in at least some of the following: microeconomics, statistics, computer programming, accounting and finance.
Knowledge and experience in the health care field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to lead group processes.
Master's degree in a relevant field preferred.
Knowledge and experience with database software programs such as Microsoft Access preferred.
Financial analysis and modeling/forecasting experience preferred.
