The A/R Collections Lead ensures that all phases of collections are performed and completed accurately and within the timely filing limits. Responsibilities include: timely submission of claims, diligent claims follow-up and collections activity, identification and reporting of reimbursement trends, assisting management in claims projects, working closely with contracting, licensing, and credentialing when payer issues are identified.
Assists in the preparation of quarterly Medicare credit balance report, if applicable
Reviews A/R reports, develops and continues to improve collection strategies; identifies problem payer trends and communicates to Directors of Reimbursement and Contracting; maintains DSO at acceptable levels
Develops relationships with all government and commercial payers to facilitate claims resolution
Responsible for staying abreast of changes in Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing requirements; studies industry publications and online notifications, identifies important issues, and distributes highlighted information to Accounts Receivable Teams
Works with management to develop goals, objectives and competencies for A/R Teams and provides training and motivation as necessary to support teams in meeting these goals
Assures all new hires have the tools and training they need to be successful, monitors development of competencies during any probationary periods and provides ongoing training as required
Reviews incoming mail daily; responds to correspondence from Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and patients regarding accounts receivable promptly to resolve denials and rejections
Reviews aging and Unpaid Claims reports regularly and performs aggressive collection activity; notifies A/R management of any collection trends
Prepares well-documented inquiries and/or appeals for reconsideration of outstanding claims; confers with A/R management when necessary
Prepares and submits requests and documents required for any uncollectible accounts adjustment; presents to A/R management for bad debt write-off approval
Assist in maintaining records of Share Of Cost (SOC) reports if needed
Responds to overpayment notices and requests for refund appropriately; disputes or prepares check request and submits for approval and routing to Accounts Payable
Assists team in preparation of any collection projects and in establishing congenial relationships with payers
Maintains the DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and Cash Collections goals as set by management
Responsible for driving the Satellite Healthcare culture through values and customer service standards
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers
Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication
Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner

Minimum Education & Experience:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required; college courses or courses in insurance billing, data processing, or medical terminology preferred
Four (4) years of experience in a medical collections environment
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying
