In this key role, you will develop and execute a broad communications strategy for the executive leadership of UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine in order to position UCLA Health as a leader, expert and innovator in health care delivery, research, education and community partnerships.
Reporting to the Chief of Communications, you will collaborate with peers across the Marketing and Communications department, groups within the organization, as well as the offices of the Vice Chancellor, the President of UCLA Health and the Dean of the David Geffen School of Medicine. This position also involves leading all functions of and staff of internal communications. Ultimately, you will establish Leadership Communications as a full-service unit within Communications as you influence and impact a wide spectrum of internal and external audiences on behalf of UCLA Health.
We’re seeking a strategic, creative thinker and proven leader with:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related field – Master’s preferred
10 to 20 years of high-level strategic communications and writing experience
Ability to leverage executive communication strategies to move public opinion, elevate stakeholder involvement and enhance brand preference
Demonstrated success leading internal communications
Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills and presentation abilities
Success in collaborating within a complex, highly-matrixed organization
A background leading the development of a wide range of content for a variety of internal channels
Skill in distilling sensitive and complex information into compelling communiques
Experience evaluating and implementing internal and multi-directional communications tools and channels
Experience with content management systems and email platforms (Eloqua, Convio, etc.) a plus
Academic, health care, research and/or science experience highly desirable
