The Appeals Assistant serves to assist and support the Appeals and Grievance process as outlined in the Plan Member Handbook/Evidence of Coverage, departmental policies and procedures, and regulatory standards. This role requires a commitment to providing excellent Customer Service to our Members and positive engagement within a highly functional and fast-paced team environment.
The Appeals Assistant serves as a liaison between the Appeal Coordinators, our Members and the Plan with relation to appeal related activities including but not limited to taking Committee meeting minutes, drafting and finalizing Member resolution letters, managing multiple complex Committee schedules, and providing primary support for all clerical functions needed within the Department.
This individual works under the direct supervision of the Manager, Appeals & Grievances

Demonstrates proficiency in general office support such as preparing routine correspondence, scheduling, data entry and document preparation.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills to include oral, written, audio and electronic communication skills with a willingness to learn and function in a team environment.

Demonstrates ability to work independently.

Demonstrates familiarity with office equipment usage, basic navigation in a windows environment, and passwords and security. Accesses the Infoweb and internet, uses basic
browser functionality, and understands policy on Internet usage.
Demonstrates the ability to compose, send and read emails, understands email functionality and conventions related to replying
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
One year of related experience preferred
