The Director of Enterprise Architecture (EA) helps business and IT leaders make investment decisions that balance and prioritize operational demands, business disruptions and market opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of M Health Fairview. The Director leads the EA team and works with senior IT leaders to create the living architecture for the IT enterprise and define architecture practice standards, processes and governance. This role possesses vision and organizational and technical leadership skills to centralize the EA functions while educating the IT leadership team. This role develops enterprise IT viewpoints for IT executive and provides technology guidance, roadmaps, principles, standards and best practices to IT delivery teams. The Director drives the architecture review process and accelerates IT digital maturity to enable M Health Fairviews digital transformation.
Act as EA expert in IT and related digital strategy; lead the development and presentation of living architecture model, business capability models, technology reference models, and functional area roadmaps to guide investment decisions to support business and IT strategy.
Influence and contribute to IT strategic goals, maintaining awareness of the value stream, business capability map, and changes to architecture roadmaps. Guide the pragmatic alignment to IT standards and EA principles.
Align EA strategy with business goals and IT strategy; provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of enterprise architecture to effectively enable IT strategy.
Lead the EA team and programs to develop, maintain and govern the architecture of the IT enterprise.
Be an important advocate of technology driven innovation/solutions which will impact overall IT strategy.
Define, explain and advocate technology strategy across IT domains.
Develop and communicate architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Promote EA processes, outcomes, and results to the IT organization and IT leadership.
Lead and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide EA decision making.
Manage exceptions to architectural standards at the enterprise IT level.
Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements as needed for the organization.
Ensure the conceptual completeness of the technical solutions and create and manage exception processes for business needs.
Approve the modification of the enterprise architecture to accommodate project needs.
Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities given the enterprise IT asset base.
Consult with EA team to fit projects to architecture of the IT enterprise, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the existing or proposed architecture.
Direct the research and evaluation of emerging technologies along with industry and market trends.
Ensure EA team recommendations are based on business relevance, appropriate timing, cost, and deployment.
Partner with senior IT leaders to jointly create IT process maturity model and establish metrics to improve those processes at pace with IT digital strategy.
Work on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains.
Collaborate with project management and IT leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.
Work with IT executive to direct the allocation of resources to meet architectural initiatives critical to IT/business/mission success.
Responsible for the day-to-day leadership, evaluation, training, and development of the EA team.
Oversee the outline and execution of Enterprise Architecture strategy.
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
5+ years in an EA leadership role and managing a team of architects.
10+ years of experience in solution or technical architecture, application development, data analytics or operations in a multi-tier environment.
Experience in architecture for enterprise transformation initiatives.
Experience in digital architecture components like ecosystems, SOA, design patterns, micro services etc.
Familiarity with EA frameworks like TOGAF, DODAF, FEAF, Zachmann etc.
Masters degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent IT consulting experience.
EA in a healthcare delivery organization.
Experience designing and implementing product and technology architectures in healthcare.
Certification in one or more leading architecture methodologies (TOGAF, Zachmann etc.)
