Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) Business Planning provides a single point of contact for a defined set of BSWH business areas for understanding business requests made to the Information Systems (IS) organization. An IS Project Planner, Operations is responsible for supporting the understanding the business problem, identifying the best solution, establishing the expected business outcomes, determining the level of effort and budget to implement the solution and gaining approval through the IS governance process. An IS Project Planner focuses on addressing a specific line of business or functional area within BSWH. The role requires a person who must be action and results-oriented, a "take-charge" leader with strong communications (written and spoken), leadership, negotiating and business case development skills.
Key responsibilities for the IS Project Planner, Operations role include:
Processes business requests from receipt through the governance decision process.
Partners closely with business leaders to analyze new business requests, prepare required information for governance decisions and provide transparency of portfolio investments.
Develops business justifications for each business request by working with the requester/sponsor.
Develops deeper understanding of the healthcare industry relative to the assigned portfolio and BSWH operations.
Participates in governance session and represents IS and the assigned portfolio area.
Manage artifacts, decisions, communications, metrics and reporting for assigned portfolio area.
Collaborates with other members of the Business Planning team to ensure alignment, dependencies or impact of a business request may have to the other portfolios.
Builds strong relationships within BSWH business leaders to understand the business challenges and opportunities for assigned portfolio area.
Prior experience for a successful IS Project Planner, Operations candidate includes:
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business, or related fields is preferred.
Experience in business development, operational management, IS leadership or product management in healthcare is required.
Experience as a project manager in healthcare is desired.

IT knowledge for assigned portfolio, especially applications.
Knowledge of applications, technology and processes used in a healthcare setting.
Basic financial and business acumen.
Willingness to continually learn.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
