The President will serve as the chief development officer for Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach. In this capacity, the President will be responsible for the overall management of Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
Relating to Fund Raising
Design and supervision of occasional capital campaigns and or fundraising initiatives benefiting LBMMC and MCH and delegation of day-to-day campaign administration to responsible members of the Foundation staff
Design and supervision of unique yet interrelated programs to encourage annual giving in support of LBMMC, MCH and MMCF and delegation of day-to-day annual giving operations to responsible members of the Foundation staff
Design and supervision of an ongoing program to encourage major and planned giving benefiting LBMMC, MCH and MMCF and delegation of day-to-day programmatic activities to responsible members of the Foundation staff
Support to the MMCF Board of Directors and staff in the identification, research, cultivation and solicitation of prospective major donors
Support to the MMCF Board of Directors and staff in the identification, research, cultivation, enlistment and orientation of new Board members and other fund-raising volunteers.
Relating to Philanthropic Stewardship
Support to the MMCF Board of Directors in the design and implementation of policies and procedures for gift recording, gift reporting, donor acknowledgement and donor recognition
Support to the MMCF Board of Directors in the design and implementation of investment policies and procedures
Support to the MMCF Board of Directors in the design and implementation of the Foundation’s annual operating budget in consideration of generally accepted “cost of fund raising” guidelines.
Relating to Administration
Provide regular presence and support as a leader in the greater Long Beach community as a regular participant among civic organizations and groups at a level that enhances the LBMMC, MCH and MMCF local presence and community-based objectives
Maintenance of MMCF’s not-for-profit IRS section 501(c)(3) status and MMCF’s public charity IRS section 509(a) status by providing current information to the MMCF Board of Directors about governmental requirements relating to fund raising, asset management by public charities, and approved donor gift valuations
Implementation of MemorialCare policies and procedures relating to the recruitment, training, performance evaluation and termination of MMCF staff
Support to the MMCF Board of Directors in the organization of unique committees to satisfy Board approved objectives and goals
Participation with senior staff of MemorialCare, LBMMC, MCH and MMCF in corporate strategies including participation in the production of promotional material that enhance fund-raising success benefiting LBMMC, MCH and MMCF
Participation as a member of the senior management team of MemorialCare with administrative and promotional activities and opportunities aimed toward enhancement of corporate development – without participating to a level that compromises fund-raising productivity.
Participation as a member of the senior management team of MemorialCare in other special assignments as assigned.
