The Sr. Financial Analyst position assists in managing the funds flow between the University of Minnesota Physicians (UMP) and the University of Minnesota (UMN) and Fairview Health Services, specifically the Master Purchased Services Agreement (MPSA) invoices for UMP Provider costs and other related expenses. This is a highly visible role that deals with time sensitive deadlines and large amounts of data to provide relevant insights and assist in sound business decisions.
Manage the MPSA (Master Purchased Services Agreement Physician costs) Invoice process for month end.
Develop metrics and reporting on financial and operational performance for Fairview operators responsible for managing those University providers and employees and the finance leaders who support them.
Become the subject matter expert in understanding UMP and University of MN contracts with Fairview.
Create Adaptive Office Connect, Power Business Intelligence reports related to MPSA/MSA expenses showing monthly trend and variance to plan for the month and year to date.
Assist in planning and forecast work as it relates to the Fairview forecasting cycle and annual planning cycle.
Assist in new and replacement provider process request to ensure economic and operational needs are met and appropriately documented.
Undertake analysis and reporting on a proactive basis to provide insights before being asked for them.
Assist in the preparation of the system revenue forecast and budget.
Assist management in the development of operational revenue improvement plans. Monitor, measure and communicate the impact of action plans and improvement initiatives.
Maintain liaison relationship with operational and finance leadership in the preparation and analysis of financial reports to provide information and to resolve problems concerning variances from approved financial plans.
Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Data Analytics
3-5 years and/or equivalent experience in accounting or finance related role.
Ability to synthesize financial and operating data into concise and actionable information for financial and non-financial users.
Ability to extract insights and tell a narrative beyond simply creating the reports to assist end users in decision-making and data assimilation.
Strong financial reporting systems aptitude and disciplined process orientation.
Experience working with large data sets.
CMA / CPA
5-10 years of experience; health care setting preferred.
