You Will Be Responsible For:
Financial Statement Review – analyzes and evaluates the monthly Financial Statements.
Departmental Support – supports departmental directors by answering questions related to financial statement reports. Also, assists departmental directors in financial decisions by providing financial analysis.
Responsible for implementation and compliance of AdventHealth corporate accounting policies and procedures.
Has the final responsibility for providing the organization and its management with the appropriate financial and operating information necessary. This individual and the accounting staff are expected to work closely with other department groups on problems involving accounting systems and internal controls.
Management supervision of the Finance departments (Disbursements, Financial Planning, General Accounting, Physician Finance and Revenue Management departments).
Supervises directors and/or managers of the Finance departments.
Meets monthly with each manager to review performance of department, discuss personnel and mentor managers.
Ensures integration of Finance functions where appropriate.
General Ledger Close
Coordinates monthly and annual financial close.
Reviews all monthly prepared financial statements and journal entries.
Reviews all support schedules for journal entries.
Reviews all account reconciliations.
Reviews balance sheet account activity monthly and for mid-year and year-end and for mid-year and year-end formal balance sheet reviews.
Reports & Analyses
LTS Reports – oversees production and distribution of Labor Productivity bi-monthly to management. Chairs biweekly Productivity Review meetings.
FLEX Budget Reports – reviews and distributes monthly Flex Budget Reports to management.
Quarterly Profitability Reports – oversees Cost and Net Revenue Profitability Reports, service lines, programs, and payors.
Oversees production of financial analysis reports containing pertinent data and graphs on a monthly basis.
Statistical Reports – reviews and distributes monthly statistical reports.
Reviews Cost/CCA data.
Reviews special projects.
Oversees preparation of annual Medicare, Medicaid, Champus and AHCA cost reports and other required reports for regulatory agencies including all Tax reporting requirements.
Prepares the annual Medical Group budget through a collective process established with directors to meet the financial objectives of senior management.
Prepares the budget template files used for AdventHealth Spring Budget Review as well as Initial and Final Budget Reviews.
Oversees updates and maintenance of Budget software.
Cost Studies – Develops procedure level cost standards for each department by observing procedure and discussing results with department directors.
Cost Update – Determines current procedure costs by allocating current expenses to cost standards used to produce profitability reports.
Develops, analyzes and interprets accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
Relationship with Board of Trustees.
May serve as chairman of interdepartmental committees and projects on behalf of CFO.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of 7 (required) to 10 (preferred) years’ experience in healthcare finance, accounting or related field
Proven management skills required.
CPA; Membership and specialty certification in a professional organization (AICPA & HFMA) - preferred
The AVP, Controller directs the accounts payable and payroll (disbursements), financial planning, general accounting, physician finance and revenue management areas for the AdventHealth Medical Group West and coordinates monthly, interim and annual financial statements with supporting schedules and analyses for use by management. The AVP, Controller manages and trains staff and coordinates data for the purpose of analyzing, producing and compiling routine and specific reports of a financial nature for past, present and future statistics and trends so as to benefit management and financial decision making. The AVP, Controller is responsible for the company’s accounting policies and practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, the preparation of financial reports and the evaluation and maintenance of internal controls. The AVP, Controller is responsible for the following functional areas: Accounts Payable, Audit, Bond Accounting, Budget, Construction Accounting, Contractual Adjustments, Decision Support, Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Statements, Fixed Asset Accounting, PHCHS Accounting, Foundation Accounting, General Ledger, Payroll, Physician Finance, Reimbursement, Revenue Management and Tax.
