This Position reports to the Vice President of Ancillary and Support Services and is responsible for the daily operation and development of all support services including Facilities, Food and Nutrition Services, Environmental Services, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Safety, Public Safety (security) and Parking. In conjunction with operational issues, this position is responsible for all regulatory compliance as it relates to OSHPD, CDPH, The Joint Commission, CMS and associated bodies who regulate patient care within the licensed facilities.
This position is responsible to ensure that the support services departments provide the highest quality services in a cost effective and efficient manner to enable patients to have optimal service and a Simply Better Experience
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direction and leadership to support services and serves as resource to the Vice President Ancillary and Support Services on all projects. Reviews goals and objectives, budgets, financial reports, Performance Improvement activities and other departmental reports. Presents to VP Ancillary and Support Services
Participates in Strategic Planning for areas of responsibility. Makes recommendations.
Develops annually a set of goals and objectives for support services aligned with the hospitals’ strategic plans.
Participates in operational and quality committee structure to support and advance the needs of support services.
Promotes a culture of environmental safety throughout the organization by maintaining a clean, safe and secure environment for patients, staff, physicians and visitors.
Active participation, engagement and participation in the Environmental Safety program and the Environment of Care Committee
Is accountable for compliance to state and federal regulatory agencies including The Joint Commission, Title 22, Title 24, CDPH, and CMS.
Develop the strategic plan for the support service areas
Applies the planning process to provide appropriate forecasting, decision making and budget preparation.
Oversight of quality measures in the Support Services areas. Assures that quality improvement plans are developed and implemented in areas of responsibility.
Recruits and selects and motivates competent leaders for the Support Service Departments.
Integrates departments with other hospital departments by actively and cooperatively participating in multidisciplinary projects and committees.
Promotes communications among departments.
Ensures that departmental policies and procedures are developed and up to date on current regulations and practices.
Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations, and laws. Stays current with legal, regulatory and policy development affecting areas of responsibility.
Leads or participates in committees relevant to support services.
Utilizes time management skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines as required.
Maintains professional growth and development and keeps current with latest trends in areas of expertise. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, attending in-service meetings and workshops.
Determines training necessary for staff to maintain and enhance professional growth, development, and job knowledge where applicable.
Follows established facility policies, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines.
