You Will Be Responsible For:
The Hospice Medical Director will designate a member of the medical staff who will assume the same responsibilities and obligations as the Medical Director in his/her absence.
Employees Supervised: The Hospice Medical Director has both direct supervisory responsibilities and oversight of Hospice contracted physicians.
Inter-relationships/Contacts: The Hospice Medical Director works closely with all members of the leadership team, the Hospice Staff, Hospital and Community Medical Staff, community members, Board, and vendors.
What You Will Need:
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine (MD) or osteopathic medicine (DO). Duly licensed to practice in the State of Florida.
A clear/active Florida Medical License is required.
Board certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family practice or other Specialty, and Hospice and Palliative Care. If eligible, Board Certification is an expectation in a mutually agreed upon time period.
Work experience in the field of Internal Medicine, oncology or geriatrics, or other specialty with a minimum of one (1) year in hospice or palliative care.
Active (or provisional active) member in good standing on the Medical Staff of Florida Hospital, with all privileges accorded such status.
Participating provider in AdventHealth or its successor.
Active Driver’s license and auto insurance
The Hospice Medical Director (Physician) will provide direct oversight and leadership of the Program and the Physician services. As Medical Director, Physician will have varied duties and responsibilities as described in this Job Description. Physician shall perform the Services in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, including Title 29, Chapter 400, Part IV of the Florida Statutes and Chapter 58A-2 of the Florida Administrative Code applicable to hospices and the federal Medicare CoPs for hospices as set forth in 42 C.F.R. Section 418.1 to Section 418.405. Physician shall be the leader of the Program team and shall be responsible for the direction and quality of the medical component of the care rendered by all Medical Staff members and Hospital staff members of the Program.
The Hospice Medical Director for Hospice Services will provide administrative duties and oversees the medical components of the Hospice plan of care for each patient. The Hospice Medical Director, and the other members of the interdisciplinary team, must collaborate with the patient’s attending physician, communicating the patient’s wishes and status. Physician agrees to meet the general medical needs of Program patients to the extent that the attending physicians are not meeting their patients' general medical needs. Any Program patient or legal representative of the patient may elect to have Physician assume all or part of the patient's primary medical care services or serve as a consultant to the patient's attending physician, and Physician agrees to assume said professional Services. Physician also agrees to perform the following professional and administrative Services for the Program as Hospice Medical Director:
