JOB SUMMARY The Simulation Technician is responsible for providing technical support for all simulation operations, including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins, task trainers, audio-visual recording equipment and the Educational Management Solutions database.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Assesses and troubleshoots software and hardware issues, and installs software and hardware upgrades.
Works with content experts and education specialists to evaluate new equipment and identify opportunities for integration into healthcare education. Adapts new technology into training programs. Develops effective communication networks and maintains record of repairs.
Operates and programs simulator equipment for simulation sessions. Ensures equipment is in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations and activities, including audio-visual recording equipment and learning management systems, as applicable. Conducts routine equipment maintenance. Maintains up to date records of simulation equipment.
Develops training programs on the utilization of the simulation equipment, and trains faculty and other staff in the operational aspects of the simulation equipment and learning management systems, as applicable. Works with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels of training.
Sets up and cleans rooms for training sessions. Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and other disposable and non-disposable items. Maintains advanced simulation lab as an effective operational facility and optimal learning environment.
Ensures accurate maintenance of all education and training records saved on simulator computer programs.
Provides reports to the department manager.
Maintains the clinical simulation van for transporting equipment.
Provided maintenance for simulation equipment at satellite facilities as needed.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen based simulation to full body patient simulators and virtual reality simulator.
Knowledge of technologies including basic theory, design and implementation.
Knowledge of patient simulation services technologies and applications preferred.
Proficiency in the use of audio-visual equipment.
Proficiency with PC applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and MAC applications.
