The STEEEP Care Specialist for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) works with Clinicians and Administrators within the organization to implement clinical systems and process improvements in support of safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered (STEEEP) care in accordance with regulatory statutes, policies and procedures.
In addition, the STEEEP Care Specialist for BSWH has the following responsibilities:
Facilitates quality and patient safety initiatives to improve patient safety and foster an environment of service excellence through successful interventions, data analysis, and developing action plans.
Participates in the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of hospital-wide patient safety and risk reduction activities.
Performs concurrent and retrospective medical record review to investigate quality and/or patient safety concerns and to identify risk exposure and performance improvement opportunities.
Collects patient safety, complaints/grievances, and peer review data in accordance with regulatory and entity-specific requirements.
Develops and disseminates ongoing and ad hoc reports to ensure that management and medical staff committees receive timely and accurate data to meet their needs in ensuring quality care and patient safety within their departments.
Develops educational materials designed to educate staff and management about patient safety processes and risk reduction.
Identifies industry best practices, providing feedback to leaders and team members.
Develops and presents reports and provides educational and resource materials.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to facilitate patient safety and quality improvement principals, concepts and initiatives.
Knowledge of joint commission standards.
Verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships.
Ability to prepare reports.
