Job Summary:
Develops strategic and operational plans to support and enhance the digital and social media presence of MU Health Care (MUHC) and the University of Missouri School of Medicine (SOM). This position partners with senior leaders to initiate and maintain digital and social media initiatives to achieve strategic priorities including growing volumes and enhancing recruitment and reputation for the health system. This position plays a key role in keeping key audiences informed, engaged and inspired through relevant social media and digital strategies.
Job Duties:
Oversee development of capabilities and strategies to engage key audiences in order to promote the health system as the region’s leading provider of clinical care, education, research, employment and positive economic impact.
Leverage data and analytics to develop and enhance digital and social media capabilities to engage key audiences of MUHC and SOM.
Oversee development of digital and social media strategies to communicate key services and organizational priorities to various audiences.
Provide digital and social media consultation for service lines, departments and other internal clients.
Oversee development of strategy for executing social media content and social media monitoring.
Develop strategies to monitor and respond to social media comments and coordinate such responses with crisis management and patient experience in mind.
Educate team members, health system employees and leadership on website and social media strategies and best practices.
Manage vendor relationships to oversee back-end development and website hosting of Drupal websites.
Oversee data-driven strategies to enhance the user experience of web properties.
Develop comprehensive plans to monitor website activity and performance and achieve goals in user experience, website traffic, conversion, and engagement.
Ensure alignment of content across channels with brand voice.
Perform other communications duties as assigned.
Lead and manage a diverse team of digital and social media content professionals.
Collaborate with MUHC and SOM leadership and key stakeholders to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of digital operations and content marketing, and monitor and adopt evolving trends and methods in digital and social media management.
Perform as a strong writer and editor familiar with AP style who can uphold MU Health Care’s style as well as brand and voice guidelines.
Possesses leadership presence and ability to present views and arguments in a compelling manner.
May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must be a strong project manager able to handle multiple projects and strategies at the same time and meet deadlines.
Excellent problem solving, documentation, communication, and project management skills
Must be an experienced communicator leading a productive and engaged team.
Ability to work with executive and senior management; excellent negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.
Must be able to develop positive, supportive and effective working relationships across the organization

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, or related discipline.
Four (4) years of related experience.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in digital and social media strategy and communications.
Experience in an academic medical center or large tertiary teaching hospital.
Management experience.
Experience in managing complex projects, campaigns, and initiatives in highly matrixed organization.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
