Summary:
The new Akron Children's Hospital ISD Internship program is interested in students who are pursuing a career in Data Analytics. This program will provide students with analytical work experience in a key functional area within the hospital such as clinical, financial, operational, quality, and claims. Our internship program is intended to provide an opportunity for interns to gain a better understanding of the various job opportunities available throughout Akron Children's Hospital and to build a pipeline of candidates who will join Akron Children's Hospital upon their college graduation.
As an Analytics Intern on the Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) team, your work will be to further Akron Children's Hospital's goal to become a data enabled organization. Additionally, you will work closely with seasoned analytics team members to provide analytical insights to various levels of the hospital including management and leadership. You will be assigned a mentor who will provide guidance and will assist you with your professional development.
Responsibilities:
- You will work across analytic competencies such as data organization, analysis, and interpretation.
- You will be provided an opportunity to gain analytical work experience in a key functional area within the hospital such as clinical, financial, operational, quality, etc.
- You will be assigned a blend of data and analytical tasks aimed at providing the intern a well-rounded analytics experience while providing value to the organization such as the following:
- Build dashboards/visualizations using Analytics tools such as Qlik.
- Work with users from various organizational levels to build requirements.
- Gain experience with project management techniques - Agile & Waterfall.
- Explore variety of data, blend it together and translate it into insight using a array of tools ranging from MS Excel, Alteryx, WEB Intelligence.
- Work with management, analysts, and ISD to translate operational requirements into analytical solutions.
- Other duties as required.
Technical Expertise
- Course work and experience in data science, statistics, business analytics, engineering is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is preferred
- Strong skills on problem solving and communication (verbal or writing)
Education and Experience
- Education:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Pursuing BS or MS degree in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics or related fields
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, as well as listening and interviewing
- Must have completed one year of classes prior to internship
- Returning to at least one additional semester of school at end of internship
