Your day.
As a Director, Business Applications, you need to know how to:
Oversees application strategic planning, implementation, delivery, and optimization for Revenue Cycle. This includes; Patient Access for Acute and Ambulatory, Hospital, Professional and Home Health Billing, and cash management. Engages with external vendors, system owners, community partners, contractors, and stakeholder leadership to understand organizational imperatives to align technology solutions that will drive value for the organization.
- Directs the operations in the assigned department. Leads management team in planning, program development, human resource management, budget planning, customer satisfaction, patient safety, communication and compliance with regulatory agencies. Translates organization strategy into goals, action plans and metrics for the assigned department(s). Creates purpose and meaning for department(s) and clearly communicates and links purpose and meaning to organizational goals.
- Oversees service needs and volumes. Directs management team in managing staffing levels and productivity. Provides communication to management team and department associates through huddles, staff meetings and other forms of communication to relay updates regarding department updates, organizational activities, financial performance, educational opportunities, interdepartmental activities and QI activities.
- Oversees resolution of issues related to service, safety, and quality. Ensures effective working relationships within the department/unit team and interdepartmentally within the care site/location. Leads and participates in interdisciplinary committees throughout the organization.
- Directs human resource functions such as interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development. Oversees the maintenance of personnel files, including documentation of appropriate staff orientation, competency, training, discipline and performance reviews. Oversees department timekeeping and payroll. Collaborates with HR concerning employee issues and performance. Conducts employee coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions and annual appraisals. Ensures staff adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepares the operational and capital budgets. Monitors and reports the performance of the department against budget. Develops annual operating plans, business plans for new services and changes in the organizational structure in the department. Presents business plans, reports, and other statistical data to the executive leadership team. Oversees capital equipment purchases and instrument service contracts.
- Identifies and drives quality and performance improvement initiatives. Leads the team to establish mechanisms to design, measure, maintain, and improve the performance and quality of department services. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Develops action plans in line with the organization's strategic initiatives and goals.
- Participates in the Talent Management program. Mentors and provides development opportunities for leaders and identified high potential associates to ensure effective succession planning.
- Participates in Epic networking and learning opportunities, such as the annual Epic User Group Meeting, training classes, and collaboration through the Epic UserWeb customer network to ensure current knowledge of best practices and industry standards.
- Facilitates relevant governance committees to include agenda planning and development materials such as decision documents, application roadmaps, and program status.
- Will be required to support department(s) with administrative call outside of normal business hours.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Supervises Managers, Supervisors, Team leads, and Individual Contributors
- Authorized to approve <= $20,000 of Non-PO Invoices
- Full budget responsibility/accountability for department/departments assigned

- Regular attendance to perform work during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required. This position is based on the Broomfield, Colorado campus.
- Customer service skills, demonstrated with IT customers as well as operational customers
- Experience with deployment of shared system services to affiliated organizations
- Technical understanding on application deployment and maintenance
- Focus and execution of services that maintain high reliability, high quality, and high availability system services.
- Ability to coordinate and execute large, all system program upgrades and updates in accordance with vendor specifications and best practices.
Required:
- Bachelorâ™s level degree is required.
- Ten (10) years of work experience in a healthcare, technology, or related field is required, including at least five (5) years of previous supervisory or management level experience is required.
Preferred:
- Masterâ™s level degree is preferred.
- Previous experience with software implementation and maintenance for Epic or Cerner products or other industry-leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for at least five (5) years and 2 years of experience with quality initiatives, population health applications, analytics, and/or data management.
