In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
Job Description
As part of MSK's new and exciting digital transformation, we are hiring enthusiastic Data Scientist to build and deliver a one-of-a-kind data facility. You'll have the chance to work with clinicians and researchers to achieve the goal of translating institutional information into meaningful insights in order to improve patient care, hospital operations, and clinical research.
We are developing one of the most robust oncology data ecosystems in all of healthcare, the Unified Data Fabric. The integration of clinical, genomic, operational, and financial data will lead to countless insights, through the integration of high quality, authoritative, discrete, unstructured, streaming, and imaging data, by way of creating a unique and unprecedented healthcare data platform. This data platform will be a combination of cloud and on-prem technologies and will be built on state-of-the-art architecture that includes APIs, object stores, data streaming, image processing, DBMS pipelines and data warehousing technologies, with a foundation of enterprise data governance and stewardship practices including advanced semantics and machine learning to generate more data of value within the Unified Data Fabric.
You Will:
- Participate in full SAFe development life cycle eg. performing analysis, designing, sourcing and standardization, sophisticated data quality, building, releasing, and maintaining data pipelines for ingestion and propagation of imaging, genomic, and clinical data
- Working collaboratively on an agile product team with architects, engineers, scrum masters, product owners, and business owners
- Partnering with the business to identify, define and standardize data for the clinical, research and administrative parts of the organization
- Developing APIs and data pipelines to build UDF
- Crafting efficient and reusable modularized components that drive complex applications
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior colleagues and new team members
You Have:
- A senior level data analyst/architect with experience in data governance and stewardship, specifically ontologies, data quality, or data concept modeling and mapping
- Solid understanding of data analysis tools, with data science preferred
- Passionate about data and creating new solutions to empower cancer care and research
- Strong knowledge of programming languages, ETL tools and their administration, and exposure to relational/non-relational databases OR
- Bonus: familiar with Cloud providers and Knowledge agile methodologies i.e. SAFe a strong plus
