In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
Job Description
Are you highly motivated, willing to take action and passionate about Community Fundraising? As the world's oldest and largest private cancer center, absolutely everything that we do is passionate about changing the way that the world treats cancer! We are seeking a Gift Officer (also referred to as a "Community Lead") to join the Peer-to-Peer Fundraising and Development Marketing & Communications Team!
This position offers opportunity for hybrid work, and includes some night and weekend events and requires strong customer service skills.
You will:
- Proactively cultivate, qualify, and steward peer-to-peer fundraisers through phone calls, emails, mailings, and in-person/virtual meetings
- Provide a highly personalized level of customer service to the devoted and growing base of community fundraisers
- Implement an essential communications plan and timeline to meet and surpass the program's fundraising goals
- Generate reports and enter data into the CRM database to effectively track progress and keep donor records updated.
- Report to and collaborate with the Manager on activities and initiatives associated with the fundraising efforts for your portfolio
- Maintain overall database integrity specific to accuracy of donor demographics (i.e. names, addresses, contact information) including directly handling correction of information in a timely fashion.
- Respond to and handle participant and donor inquiries, proactively meet needs as they arise, and assist with special projects as assigned by the Manager and Senior Manager

- An outstanding communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and execute communication accordingly
- Interested in working with and handling relationships in a broad portfolio of participants and donors
- Willing to travel to events as permitted
You have:
- A bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of experience in fundraising, development, recruiting, communications, sales or account management, or 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Shown success in building strong interpersonal relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
