You Will Be Responsible For:
- Manages integration activities through the entire software development life cycle, including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go-live, and support.
- Recommends improvements to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team and the integration engine.
- Analyzes thoroughly and proposes effective solutions for interface projects and problems. Analyzes current interface functionality, project requirements to understand scope of interface work, and impact of future design decisions on interfaces under the guidance of a senior Integration team member or manager. Reads, comprehends, and creates technical specifications, technical documentation, and other project documentation. Able to perform analysis and gather requirements with limited input or direction from senior team members. Researches and provides interface solutions for new projects.
- Designs changes and enhancements to interfaces and is able to design interfaces for low to medium complexity projects. Under minimal guidance of senior integration team members, designs routing, mapping, and scripting logic for interfaces. Diagrams high-level and detailed interface designs. Creates detailed conformance documents for interfaces.
- Develops and codes interfaces. Develops interfaces using the appropriate standard or protocol (such as: HL7, CCD, XML, X12, FTP, FHIR, web services, API, or other interoperability standards and protocols) according to the documented specifications. Codes interface logic using programming and scripting languages that lead to efficient use of the resources provided and meets customers’ needs while adhering to quality standards set by management. (such as: ObjectScripts, TCL, Korn shell, CCL, or other appropriate languages). Effectively uses interface engines (such as: Health Connect, Epic Bridges, or other comparable systems) to support AdventHealth Information Technology’s interoperability projects with Epic or other systems. Meets development productivity and quality standards set by management.
- Executes testing and creates associated documentation. Performs unit or system testing of interfaces under the guidance of senior integration team members. As needed, prepares project documentation for Quality Assurance. Participates in the Quality Assurance testing process, and fixes interface issues found during testing.
- Plans and implements interface changes. Performs peer review of production migration prior to interface implementation. Attends change control meetings to represent any changes affecting interfaces. Creates detailed implementation plan and implements approved integration changes into production under the guidance of senior integration team members
- Communicates, coordinates, and escalates issues in order to seek resolution. Provides accurate and timely status updates to team lead and upper management, escalating roadblocks as necessary. Coordinates and drives interface meetings with external teams and vendors. Manages interface project issues to seek resolution with the assistance of senior integration team members. Communicates clearly and effectively with team members, other AIT teams, vendors, customers, and management.
- Troubleshoots and resolves medium-impact, medium-complexity technical challenges and problems, escalates if necessary. Proposes solutions when problems or issues arise in a project or incident. Participates in on-call rotation involving 24 X 7 interface support.
QualificationsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to logically read and comprehend technical and/or functional manuals and instructions
- Troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve low to medium complexity issues
- Working knowledge of HL7, interoperability standards, or system integration concepts
- Research and analysis skills to design new interfaces or enhance existing interfaces for solutions of low or medium complexity
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability concepts and architecture
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Knowledge of interface engines (such as Health Connect, Epic Bridges, or comparable interface engine).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Four years of IT work experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in systems analysis or programming with emphasis in applications and systems architectural design and development, database and middleware technologies is preferred
- 1-3 years of systems integration experience preferably in a healthcare IT environment
- Experience coordinating competing priorities and issues to facilitate appropriate client support and escalation of issues
- Experience working multiple projects concurrently
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field of study such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- SQL experience
- Experience with healthcare operations or healthcare IT.
- Experience with interface on-call support.
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, HL7, Linux or UNIX, Scripting Languages (ObjectScripts, TCL, Korn shell, or comparable), CCD or CDA, Health Connect, Epic Bridges, Cloverleaf, Cerner Open Engine, CCL or Discern Explorer, Relational Database, HL7 v2.x, FHIR, Web Services or API development
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- InterSystems Health Connect. (Health Connect certification is required within 6 months from employment.)
- Epic Bridges. (Epic certification is required within 6 months from employment.)
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
- HL7 certifications (such as HL7 v2.x or CDA)

Under minimal levels of supervision, the Intermediate Epic Integration Analyst applies practical knowledge of integration to design and develop interfaces of moderate complexity. Analyzes thoroughly and proposes effective solutions for interface projects and problems. Designs and develops integration solutions and participates in thorough testing of interfaces. Troubleshoots and resolves issues. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
