The Coord, Emergency Preparedness, is responsible for maintain Saddleback Medical Center’s safe and compliant environment of care. This position will also be responsible for updating and maintaining records and policies associated with providing a safe, functional, effective, and supportive environment for patients, staff, and other individuals under our care. Specifically, the Coordinator will be responsible for leading Saddleback’s preparedness and response to all disasters, this will include ensuring Saddleback is prepared for all-hazard emergencies by implementing a continuous cycle of planning, organizing, training, equipping, exercising, evaluating and taking corrective action in an effort to ensure effective coordination during incident responses. In addition, this position will require ongoing knowledge of end to end emergency management procedures within an acute care hospital setting. Lastly, the Coord, Emergency Preparedness will be expected to work in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to develop processes and achieve goals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Support and implement the training for Incident Command System (ICS), ensuring all essential disciplines are invited and maintain knowledge of consistent response to emergencies and disasters.
Ensure all Emergency Management standards and regulations are communicated and met.
Assist in the design, coordination, and implementation of emergency preparedness plans, procedures, and training for both internal and external events.
Develop project plans and timelines for accomplishing outstanding tasks in association with drills, surveys, or regulator site visits.
Work with leadership team to prepare annual reports on the emergency management program.
Ensure Emergency Operations Plans are updated and accessible to ensure the plan meets applicable laws, regulations, and standards for our healthcare organization.
Design, develop, and coordinate campus specific training regarding various elements of the emergency management program for all levels of staff.
Update and ensure all emergency management call lists are up to date and functional, sends out semi-annual reminders to update department internal call lists, and coordinate drills on call lists and publish updates.

Development and maintenance of end to end emergency management including, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.

Works across interdisciplinary teams to plan for future events and discuss and implement key learnings and corrective actions.
Work with external partners to ensure compliance and maintain positive working relationships with law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, public health, and other key community response partners.

Previous leadership in Emergency Management required
Leadership skills and ability to facilitate training to diverse groups of people.
Knowledge of job history involving emergency management in an acute care hospital setting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Hospital Administration or related field required
