Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Strategy and Transformation Officer, the Director of Innovation leads the development and implementation of innovation and consumer- centric strategic innovative solutions, working closely with organizational leadership. Leads a portfolio of projects for Stony Brook Medicine and the Life Science's Strategy Management process. Oversees the department of Innovation.
Duties of a Director of Strategy Innovation may include the following but are not limited to:
Leads the development and implementation of the organization's technology and innovation strategy, in order to maintain its market position and promote long term viability and ability to deliver on its mission.
In partnership with the Medical Director of Digital Innovation, bring consumer insights and industry thought leadership into project formulation and strategic transformation.
Provides leadership and guidance to the organization to develop a consumer-centric mindset.
Leads executive and faculty department leadership in the use of patient/student journey mapping, appropriate scoping for digital use cases, human centered design function, and Jobs to Be Done Theory
Leads and trains executive leaders and management on human centered design tools and techniques.
Leads and trains appropriate leadership on Jobs to Be Done Theory and how to determine the core focus and empathetic approach to meet consumer jobs to be done.
Works in partnership with the Chief Experience Officer to lead initiatives that with strategically transform our delivery models.
Leads innovation planning efforts to identify critical uncertainties and various strategies of response for industry disruptors.
Serves as the point person for special highly confidential projects for the CSTO, such as business model canvas development, empathetic storytelling and additional confidential, high priority innovative efforts.
Acts as a trusted advisor for the organization related to disruptive technology, digital and novel care disruptions, industry trends, strategic transformation, and industry and non-industry best practices.
Provides results reporting and progress reports for senior management.
Provides recommendations, to support the achievement of the strategic transformation.
Supports the Assistant Vice President of Strategy and Transformation with progress reports related to the strategy management process.
Ensures staff development, counseling, performance evaluations, and hiring of positions for all direct reporting areas and models all Leadership Commitments. (attached)
Develops and maintains policies and procedures for areas of responsibility.
Manages the budget for area of direct responsibility.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in any health-related field
Minimum of 5 years of strategy, hospital or consultation experience.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare leadership.
Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Proficiency with computer systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree in any health-related field; human center design certification; jobs to be done certification.
Bachelor of Healthcare Management, business management preferred, with experience in strategic planning/implementation, human centered design, and Jobs to be Done Theory.
