The Employee Relations Consultant serves as a thought partner, strategist, and subject matter expert HR expert across Cincinnati Children's Hospital. In this role, you will drive excellence in Pursuing Together by:
Independently conducting investigations and consulting with leaders and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective resolution of high-level, high-risk matters.
Focusing on leader and emplyee education to mitigate risk while growing organizational capability to successfully enable business-driven changle of people, organzation, and culture.
Applying best practice employee relations concepts, policies, and procedures to promote a positive employee experience.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Investigations Conduct high level, thorough and intensive investigations in a neutral way that represents the employee, management, and the institution.
* Consultation
Give expert consultation and guidance to employees, management, and HR partners in the interpretation of HR policies, procedures, programs and application of related laws and regulations.
Ensure efficient and effective resolution of high level, high-risk matters.
Partner with HRBPs to understand the business direction based on current CCHMC Strategic Plan.
Develop, maintain, and deliver effective communication to managers and employees. Identify and recommend strategies to address current and future employee relations needs.
*Program Development and Implementation
Leadership for the planning, designing and implementation of employee relations programs.
Deploy and manage new and existing programs.
Organize work, establish priorities, identify resource requirements, and coordinate with internal partners.
Determine and develop plans for achieving the long- and short-term goals of programs and projects.
Serve as an integral member of project teams to help process improvement activities.
Collaborate with others to deploy and evaluate departmental or organization wide project plans.
*Policies and Governance
Keep abreast of changes in the field of employee relations and compliance.
Use consistent and standardized processes.
Recommend changes to policies and practices to respond to regulatory changes, environmental changes, and changes due to advancements in the field of Human Resources.
Interpret policies and counsel on responsibilities and rights of CCHMC employees; proactively identify, manage and help the equitable resolution of job-related complaints and concerns; and conduct internal investigations and report findings as appropriate.
Ensure consistent practices/decision making in ER within work group to mitigate risk and promote a professional ethical work environment.
Identify, analyze, and facilitate effective conflict resolution practices. Identify and recommend strategies to address current and future employee relations needs.
*Data and Analysis
Document decisions in keeping with best practices and to reduce risk in employee relations situations.
Complete encounter or investigation documentation.
Assist in the preparation of required and supporting documentation for: unemployment claims, conflict resolution claims, federal and state agency claims and employment related litigation.
Partnership in measuring, assessing, and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of employee relations services.
Examine employee relations data to identify trends and offer solutions to manage problematic trends.
Assist with internal audits of employee relations issues and make recommendations to resolve issues in accordance with policies, practices, and procedures.

Qualifications - External
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, HR, Sociology, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, Pre-Law. etc.
5 - 7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Unique Skills:
Experience in conducting high-level investigations
Skilled ability to ask effective questions, using inductive and deductive reasoning
Excellent verbal, written and/or interpersonal communication skills
