Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
The Cloud Security Engineer will be a technical cloud security subject matter expert for Vanderbilt University Medical Center Enterprise Cybersecurity (VEC). They operate as a representative for cybersecurity solutions within the VUMC organization and the VUMC IT/Health IT cloud technology movement. The non-patient care FTE will have scoped priorities focused on the knowledge of the latest cloud security trends, products/solutions, industry best practices, compliance regulations, and cloud architectural guidelines.

Note: This is not a senior-level role and we are targeting a salary range of $80k - $95k DOE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify, deploy, and maintain cloud security technologies.
• Implement cloud security architecture design and recommendations.
• Assist in developing a cloud defense strategy for the VUMC organization.
• Familiar with cloud service providers functions, features, and services (Azure, AWS, Google, Alibaba) - Preferred Azure.
• Provides advanced network knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Skilled in cloud networking concepts
• Independently delivers on objectives with an understanding of how they impact the results of own area/team and other related teams.
• Utilizes multiple sources of data to analyze and resolve complex problems.
• Knowledgeable in cloud software tools/solutions (Preferred Kubernetes and Terraform).
• Preferred experience with Palo Alto Networks and Prisma Cloud solutions
• Familiar with Microsoft O365 Security products and services
• Understanding of containerization and virtualization
• Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain VPN connections.
• Establish solutions to conduct security assessments and audits.
• Strong verbal and written skills
  

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

• Highly capable with Azure cloud computing products, solutions, and functions
• Proficiency with Palo Alto Networks products.
• Comprehend and utilize logging data for troubleshooting and operational status monitoring.
• Proficient with the deployment, operation, and troubleshooting of "Cloud Native Application Protection Platform" (CNAPP) solutions Prisma Cloud- Preferred
• Familiar with "Secure Access Service Edge" (SASE) concepts and technologies. Able to assist in designing and developing cloud integrations to the overall SASE model.
• Proficient in required processes and procedures for deployment or networking and security resources in (Azure, AWS, Google, and Alibaba) - Preferred Azure cloud computing environments.
• Security Troubleshooting (Intermediate): Demonstrates the ability to identify, locate, isolate, and resolve complex problems relating to information security and related areas. Able to use the advanced capabilities of the primary diagnostic and visibility tools available.
• Familiar with the capabilities of vendors to find and fix problems.
• Capable of deploying virtual firewalls and threat prevention systems within a cloud environment: security gateways/application gateways / web-application firewalls.
• Confident in working with vendors and other IT-supporting admins in a collaborative environment.
• Capable of finding solutions and answers beyond the area of specialty. Displays the competence to implement solutions that may go beyond the scope of the immediate problem. Demonstrates persistence and thoroughness.
• Security Monitoring (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of Security Monitoring in practical applications of a complex nature. Conducts research into security intrusion trends and manages specific security monitoring projects. Identifies, investigates, documents, and reports security incidents and risks related to monitoring activities. Demonstrates advanced proficiency in using the Company's Security Monitoring software and tools. Works with behavioral-based technology that helps limit the impact of an incident once it occurs.
• Capable of deploying and supporting connectivity mediums between cloud service providers and organization intranets (e.g., IPsec tunnels, Express Route, Direct Connects).
