The role you’ll contribute: The Surgical Services Business Manager has financial accountability, authority, and responsibility for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange.The Surgical Services Business Manager plans, directs and supervises technical and administrative aspects of the budgeting process for Surgical Services and includes planning and monitoring the capital and operating budget.This includes the preparation of monthly variance reporting and monitoring and controlling budgets. Collaborates with the revenue cycle team to manage payment and reimbursement methodologies.Accountable for analyzing all expenditures, volume, reimbursement, and expense trends and communicating with appropriate leadership and advising on profitability of services.Prepare reports as needed and produce timely, accurate and predictable results.Communicate with OR leadership and physicians as appropriate on utilization.The Business Manager fosters the integration of the organization’s vision and values.The position will report to the VP/CFO of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
·Plans, directs, and supervises all technical and administrative aspects of the budgeting process for Surgical Services which includes planning and monitoring the capital and operational budget.
·Prepares monthly variance reporting at the department level and monitors and controls capital.
·Assist leadership in building Surgical Services budgets.
·Accountable for correlation and expenditure of invoices
·Collaborates with PFS team to manage payment methodologies.
·Analyze financial statement trends and report findings to appropriate Leadership.
·Evaluate the reimbursement of hospital programs to determine the profitability of service lines.
·Facilitate supply chain relationship between vendors, physicians, and the hospital for cost-effective and quality-care supplies and equipment.
·Use cost/managerial accounting techniques to analyze, review, and explain productivity and operations.
·Prepare reports as needed, reviewing work for reasonability and producing highly predictable, accurate results.
·Day-to-day responsibilities require good use of judgment regarding timely and appropriate communication with the hospital staff.
·Collaborates with all departments and individuals as needed for projects.
·In absence of all Surgical Services leadership, Business Manager may assume all non-clinical duties that relate to HR, finance, and non-clinical operations.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·Advanced level of proficiency in the use of personal computer and all Microsoft office products
·Possess analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work with and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
·Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
·Experience communicating effectively with physicians.
·Willing and able to observe operating room cases, procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·Bachelor's degree required.
·3 years' healthcare experience in related field
