This position is responsible for providing HIM support in maintaining the department?s paper and electronic health record system with primary duties including, but not limited to: Analyzing discharge records for deficiencies according to the Health Information Management Policies & Procedures in accordance with the Standards of St. Francis Hospital, Medical Staff By-Laws and Joint Commission requirements. Assisting physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate and complete documentation practices.
The HIM Specialist will have an understanding of privacy and security guidelines related to patient information and maintain HIPAA as well as keep all patient information confidential. The key duties of this position rely heavily on the ability to learn and navigate efficiently within an electronic health record. It is anticipated that each Specialist will have a primary set of duties and may serve as a backup to other duties within the scope of the role.
