The EMS liaison supports and works alongside hospital leadership to develop and implement the EMS service line strategic plan for surrounding market. Supports positive relationship growth between the hospital, EMS agencies, and medical direction. The EMS liaison seeks out and executes initiatives that support brand recognition and trust. Identifies opportunities to increase awareness of hospital capabilities working with service line leaders, physicians, and medical direction. Plans continuing education events and collaborative training among hospital staff and EMS providers. Responsible for outreach and relationship development supporting the hospital strategic growth plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Evaluates market data, competitive information and financial data to understand market and develop strategies.
Participates and leads initiatives to grow volume and positive perceptions of the hospital brand among customers.
Coordinates effective and efficient communication with EMS agencies. Provides timely feedback, patient follow-ups, and issue resolution supporting meaningful relationship development. Elevates team culture among pre-hospital and hospital providers supporting positive market growth.
Strategic outreach to EMS agencies, fire departments, medical direction, and other governmental agencies and staff.
Appropriately addresses issues that arise between the hospital and EMS.
Identifies, monitors, and tracks outreach, meetings, and education.
Facilitates communication and coordination between various healthcare and emergency response entities to ensure the seamless transitions of care and shared processes.
Works with service line leaders to monitor care provided, identify trends in care, and ensure compliance with identified program standards.
Demonstrates current knowledge of EMS practices, protocols, regulatory requirements, and policies and procedures.
Acts as a liaison to and maintains a strong, positive relationship with the hospital and area EMS providers.
Facilitates EMS performance improvement and quality review by working with local EMS agencies and medical directors.
In cooperation with emergency department leadership, establishes and maintains a process to quickly and safely receive patients from EMS agencies, allowing a short turn-around time for EMS crews.
Assists with health system disaster preparedness.
Provides reports and statistics to hospital leadership concerning EMS growth and relationship development or hinderances.
